No Garbage Pickup Today

In honor of the Martin Luther King Holiday the city of Tampa has no scheduled garbage pickup today, Monday – January 18th.
As per cost saving measures, makeup days are no longer scheduled in the city and the next regular pickup day for the island will be Thursday, January 21. Recycle pickup will resume next Monday.
Here is the city press news release explaining the changes from earlier this year.
As a part of the City of Tampa’s Efficiency and Effectiveness Task Force, the Department of Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management has stepped up efforts to streamline operations, increase efficiency and quality of service, while at the same time reduce operating costs. The Department will implement changes to residential (garbage, recycling and yard waste ) collection services.
As of Friday July 3, 2009 service make-up days, for the collection of household materials, following single-day observed holidays will be discontinued. For customers whose regularly scheduled collection falls on a City of Tampa observed holiday, collection will resume on the next regularly scheduled service day.
NOTE: Thanksgiving and Christmas collections, both two day holidays, will not be affected.

- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Spring Day/Good Friday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
Veterans’ Day
