New Lawn Watering Rules in Effect July 1

July 1, 2010 by Ken Elmore · Leave a Comment

Hoping to avoid deep watering restrictions from last year, the city of Tampa has adopted the Southwest Florida Water Management’s guidelines on year round water use.

For Davis Islands residents it depends on whether you have reclaimed water or not. For those without reclaimed and on regular water the restrictions are twice a week watering under the following schedule:
•     At addresses ending in 0, 1, 2, or 3: on Mondays and Thursdays;
•     At addresses ending in 4, 5, or 6: on Tuesdays and Fridays;
•     At addresses ending in 7, 8, or 9: on Wednesdays and Saturdays;
•     At locations with no address (common areas, entry areas), and locations with mixed addresses (office complexes, shopping centers): on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The hours of watering are limited to 6PM to 8AM, no watering during the day. If you have installed micro-irrigation you are allowed to water on an as-needed basis – with no restrictions.
Reclaimed water user also are not impacted by these restrictions.
The year round restrictions does away with assigned days for washing cars and boats and removes the bans on fountains and pressure washing.

If you want to talk with some about the new restrictions here is the number with the Tampa Water Department (813) 274-8032. If you are interested in signing up for reclaimed water you can find the reclaimed water map on the city’s website at www.TampaGov.net/ReclaimedWater or call (813) 282-7827 for more information.
